She has pretty high scaling so whatever AP she builds nashor, Rylai's will give her a lot of damage even if she builds tanky and it seems bruisers have taken over the tanks in competetive play. So, what is the reason Diana is mostly seen in middle lane instead of top in competetive play, or what is her weakness in top lane? She has some mana problems early Faerie Charm solves that and she has no innate sustain, but I don't think it would stop her she is pretty strong after hitting level 6.
Because he is an assassin and he can roam much better from mid, also from top hard to get blue etc etc. So there is some nice reason why they play her at mid, but it can be good at top too, so if you want, try it, she is viable at top.
Melkon abandoned - http: Well in my opinion she is good at many things, better than other champions in some - but you don't want that toplane.
She just gets outclassed by other champions that are good currently. In soloq, she gets picked because of her snowball and high skillcap hard to deal with, can outplay many other champions. I wish I could remember which tournament I saw Diana top in. Might have been OGN Asian tournament. Id start my search there if youre truly interested.
Diana is like, one of the top 5 most easily ganked champions in the game along with Mordekaiser, Darius, Soraka, you get the idea. That's why playing her top lane is generally speaking not a very good idea. While she is decent 1v1ing, it's very easy to pressure her when she basically has no way to disengage from a fight. Champions that are traditionally mediocre at ganking early like Udyr and Skarner can straight up run to Diana and get her killed very easily earlygame if she does not ward extremely far out during the laning phase.
That's a recipe for potential disaster if the lanes pushes too much and the enemy jungler likes camping top. Her dueling is, well, not very strong, she's a burst champion so as a trade-off her dueling is considerably weak. It doesn't help her case that top lane features many strong duelists, including the likes of Renekton, Riven, Darius, etc. Now, problem 1 is solved by the opponent also being a lane pusher, and admittedly, have the ability to mega push lanes is not necessarily a weakness if you're warding, as well as your teammates, you'll have a strong comprehension of where the enemy jungler is at , since many top laners who are popular might not always be good at counterpushing ex: Problem 2 is the issue.
I don't doubt however that she could be a viably effective top laner, but she needs to choose her matchups carefully. Duelists are a no-go, and beware of pushing lanes without wards. Not failure, but low aim, is the crime. In great attempts, it is glorious even to fail. Kiwikid, digs new ish top has played her in lcs. More than once, around when people started banning his singed.
Used her to beat up an akali once I remember. Diana top, Orianna mid, Lulu support, triple shield the diana, dive the carry and ori ult, then lulu ult.

Rollback Post to Revision RollBack. Last edited by Melkonka: She has great build diversity Now, to do her job, she needs Renekton is a better bully with more AoE that can utilize tanky items better Sunfire and provides utility stun, armorpen.
Other toplaners like Elise, Rumble or Kennen got way better scaling. Her pushing is only average without building full AP Her roaming is ok, if she can outpush her opponent.
Her ability range nerfs hurt her ganking capability though, and champions like Zac have superior roaming power. Her objective control is good, but not great. Shen does a better job. Last edited by Barry: There are multiple weaknesses I can see Diana having in top lane:
